1st Delphi International Psychoanalytic Symposium (August 1984)
“The Personal Myth in Psychoanalytic Theory”
The psychoanalytic concept of the personal myth, proposed in 1956 by Ernst Kris, was examined from the perspective of the theory of Ego Psychology, the theory of Object Relations and the theory of Self Psychology.
Main speakers: John Arlow, Otto Kernberg, Eva Lester, Donald Meltzer, André Green, Janice de Saussure, Robert Wallerstein, Nikos Nikolaidis, Giorgos, Zavicianos as well as the 5 Study Group Teachers: Athina Alexandri, Stavroula Berati, Anna Potamianou, Panagiotis Sakellaropoulos, Petros Hartokollis and Canadian Symposium organizers John Babatzanis and Caspar Tutters.
This Symposium was very important for the first generation of psychoanalysts trained in Greece, as well as for many psychiatrists and psychologists outside of HPS. Our younger colleagues met eminent theoretician psychoanalysts. In addition to the importance of their contribution to the symposium, the collegial collaboration we all shared was very important.
